CNN ANNOUNCES CHRIS CUOMO’S EMPLOYMENT IS CANCELLED

CNN has officially terminated Chris Cuomo’s employment, following his assignment last week during the Anthony Weiner scandal in which the newsroom intern assumed significant responsibility for documenting events and helping to end the congressman’s career.

Cuomo will be replaced by Alisyn Camerota on mornings on both the 8-9am and 10-11am hours of America’s Newsroom, anchoring until a new co-anchor is named.

The decision to terminate Cuomo’s employment was made in accordance with the company’s policies, and is not connected to any professional or personal matters involving Mr. Cuomo.

Camerota will be sitting in as co-anchor until a new co-anchor is named.

Guests scheduled to appear on CNN’s 8-9am and 10-11am hours on Monday include:

9am – Bill Ayers and Mario Cuomo: Bill Ayers and Mario Cuomo discuss how the ideals of FDR and LBJ paved the way for Barack Obama’s historic presidency.

10am – Pastor Joe A. Carter, President, Pastor Carter Memorial Presbyterian Church, former CEO of President Carter’s Foundation and Anita Busch Network: Pastor Joe A. Carter discusses his work, faith and his testimony to the state of America.

Camerota joins CNN as co-anchor of Americas Newsroom and the weekend edition of New Day. She was previously the co-anchor and managing editor of the 3pm and 5pm news shows on CNN. While at CNN, Camerota was honored with several regional, local and network awards, including in the Humanitarian Award category for CNN’s Heroes and the American Humane Association Baxter/Dubrow Award for her commitment to animal rights.
